Previously, orthodontics was a treatment modality typically for teenagers, but lately, more and more adults have been seeking it out both for cosmetics and to improve their general state of health. To dive further into this, I have invited world-renowned orthodontist Dr. Derek Mahony back onto the show.
When Dr. Derek Mahony joined me last time, we spoke about the importance of early intervention and orthodontic treatment in children. But this week, we’re discussing the other side of the spectrum; orthodontic treatment in adults and in particular, the effects of expanding the palate.
Join us this week and hear what expansion is, what it entails, and how it is managed based on the palate and varying breathing patterns. Derek is dispelling some myths around expanding and sharing some of the reasons orthodontists might consider expanding, as well as the approaches he uses in his own practices.
